The Sea-Doo Explorer X is definitely above the entry-level point for underwater propulsion devices. The Sea-Doo Explorer X is not a top of the line model, but it has some great attributes and is priced right. Sea Doo Explorer X Scooter Breakdown
I’ve seen this Sea Doo Explorer X underwater scooter used on many 100′ foot dives with no issues. It worked extremely well with surprising power, easily adjustable trim and far better power performance than some of the much more expensive scooter units. Since this DVP does all the work, you can relax and simply hold on tight and stay out longer than you ever have before.
DEPTH / ENDURANCE:
The Sea Doo Explorer X sea scooter dive propulsion vehicle features a variable tri-stage speed control with 3-speed selection and supplies enough thrust for a speed of up to 3.3 mph and run time of up to 2 hours. This rugged, high-end sea scooter is designed for snorkeling and scuba diving. It features 3-stage seal waterproof integrity, and is outfitted with new pressure-valve technology that allows smart depressurization of the unit after ascending to the surface. It Weight just 32 lbs including battery. With a maximum tested depth of 160′ and a suggested diving limit of 130 ft. makes it perfect for dive sites, ship wrecks or just cruising around. This is way beyond the 100 feet basic level you get for similar priced models and users have said it works great at this depth. At least one diver has gone down to almost 170 feet without noticing any issues. It’s sure is reassuring to know someone has tried it out without any problems and the device is built solidly enough to sustain the pressure. It bodes well for the overall quality and craftsmanship of the Sea-Doo Explorer X.
POWER:
A two-hour run time definitely classifies this diving scooter in the high end range without the accompanying price tag. The battery life does live up to its potential in normal circumstances and even while running at top speed you can easily get at least 90 minutes’ run time from it. This is a great performance by the battery. You won’t have to worry about your battery running out before your air tank is depleted or your dive time is over with this little monster. A word of caution for all divers is to carry a replacement battery and change it before going in to your second dive. This safety precaution is just part of being an intelligent diver.
This Sea Doo scooter requires a bit more maintenance than some other scooters on the market. You have to lube the o-rings before each use and you need to pull out the battery and charge it after every dive. The battery maintenance has some rules and guidelines that need to be adhered to. It does have low battery voltage protection, over current protection, high temperature protection, an audible alert when water ingress, and safety lock and auto shut-off function. The onboard battery indicator helps to accurately estimate your run time.
This Sea Doo Explorer X has a robust feel to it with nicely positioned mounting points for leash handles. A nice handle on the nose cone for towing and carrying, and floats horizontally when towed. It offers easy installation and charging of the battery pack as well. It comes complete with battery charger and ballast weights.
The nice light weight of this underwater Sea Doo DPV including the battery is reasonable for the power it packs. It can’t be carried around by a young teen, but shouldn’t be much trouble for an average adult, even when going for some shore dives. The underwater propulsion device is also equipped with a smart depressurization technology once you are back at the surface. The Sea-Doo Explorer X is not a top of the line model, but it has some great attributes and is priced right. Its fantastic value for the price and it’s definitely an underwater scooter which should be considered by the average leisurely diver. >> Current Pricing and Reviews on the Sea Doo Explorer X Scooter.

RATINGS:
The Sea-Doo Explorer X Underwater Sea Scooter in Action
If you’re planning on going many kilometers into underwater caves or hundreds of feet below the surface of the ocean to explore some insanely deep ancient wrecks, then this sea scooter is not the one for you. But if you are looking for a lightweight and portable sea scooter with its own convenient carrying case, then you can’t go wrong with this great mid range priced Sea Doo sea scooter. I have found in my research that people tend to purchase a lesser more affordable scooter then expect it to do more than designed. However, when they purchase a better or “premium” snorkel scooter like this Sea Doo Explorer X, then they are happier the did. It may not come equipped with electronic speed controls which high end DPV’s have, but you are not paying anywhere close to what they charge.
