PERFORMANCE:
Unlike some other low-end Sea Doo diver propulsion vehicles, this Sea Doo GTI is not a toy for the pool. It makes a great addition to a dive or snorkeling gear set, and gives an extra kick underwater so you can dive effortlessly and enjoy the underwater world even more. Packing big performance in a small, lightweight (just 18 lbs) package, this underwater propulsion unit is light enough to carry in one hand. The Sea Doo Seascooter GTI sea scooter offers the perfect balance of power, weight and run time. Please be certain as with any type of new piece of equipment to completely read and understand the operations of the sea scooter. At approximately $350 retail price, the Sea-Doo Sea Scooter GTI is close to being an entry-level underwater scooter.
DEPTH / ENDURANCE:
Rated for use down to 100 feet with convenient adjustable buoyancy, the Sea Doo GTI provides speeds up to 2.5 mph for up to two hours during normal use. Sea Doo Seascooter GTI provides enough thrust for a speed of up to 2.5mph, and depth tested to 115ft./35m – rated to 100ft/30M. However, the advertised speed of up to 2.5 mph is probably only reachable if you are kicking with your fins or if the underwater device is being handled by a smaller person. This sea scooter DPV may get you there slowly, but at least you won’t be sucking empty your air tank so it does help your dive.
POWER:
The battery life hasn’t been quite the 1.5 hours advertised but then again, not many of the sea scooters on the market deliver the full potential for their run time endurance. Also, being a large person is going to impact your run time and so will other factors such as the current. You use a 12V-14 Ah battery. If you are diving deeper, especially if there are stronger currents, be careful since you don’t want to lug the scooter to your boat. The Sea Doo GTI battery has been known to give up after 40 minutes of strenuous usage. Another issue raised regarding the battery was its durability as some users have reported it was great during the first season, but would only last 15 to 20 minutes in season number 2. At least the replacement battery is not too expensive.
SAFETY FEATURES:
Neutral buoyancy is another minor issue with this underwater propulsion device. Experienced divers have added up to 3 lbs to improve on the buoyancy or tack on some extra weights on their weight belt. The dive propulsion vehicle is safely designed with a rigid grid around the propeller. It also has waterproof circuitry protection against accidental flooding that shuts the scooter off after a certain period to prevent damage to the unit.
