PERFORMANCE:
The next generation of Sea Doo is the RS 1 underwater scooter which features a next generation Lithium Ion power source and a powerful 500 Watt motor for outstanding speeds up to 4.35 mph, which is really unheard of in a 21 /lb. sea scooter. It also has a 3 speed transmission which gives the diver some flexibility of controlling their speeds during the dive. Even some top of the line DPVs rarely display this type of speed performance. Navigation and maneuverability is nearly perfect with stabilizing glide fins allowing straight line forward operation and a down force spoiler preventing upward skidding during acceleration. The handlebar of the Sea Doo RS1 is the users man navigation control and is made of the best impact resistant material. It features a very well designed, and easy to use positioned triggers for a natural thumb position during usage. It comes with a standard mount for your GoPro which is a great little feature. Comes with accessory D-ring attachment points and a dashboard style LED battery status indicator for accurate voltage battery usage remaining to eliminate the guess work.
DEPTH / ENDURANCE:
This sea scooter DPV delivers again with a active depth: 50m / 160ft (maximum tested depth rated) and a advised depth: 40m / 130ft (maximum advised safety limit for scuba diving). This sea scooter has lived up to its published ratings and provides a true run time of 90 min, a top speed of 4.35 mph, and a depth rating of 130ft!
POWER:
Removable Lithium Ion battery is easily charged without removing battery from unit and charges fully in 7 hours with a run time up to 1.5 hours The speed this DPV unit can reach had us slightly concerned about battery output since we worried the high speed may drain battery energy too quickly. Surprisingly, the run time advertised for the DPV is 90 minutes and given the power it packs and the speed it can pull, this is more than satisfactory.
SAFETY FEATURES:
One of the coolest features of the Sea Doo RS1 Underwater Sea Scooter is that it has a self-filling integrated ballast space that allows for neutral buoyancy. The auto buoyancy feature uses a multi hull design allowing the RS1 to fill with water and automatically assume neutral buoyancy. The buoyancy can be further adjusted with adjustable ballast. With the all-new 2016 Seadoo Seascooter RS1, tinkering around with buoyancy is a thing of the past. The new RS Series from Sea Doo has done it well, this is a great performing and high quality machine. However, I must say upfront, that if there was only one underwater scooter that I like a bit better, and if money is not a huge concern, then I recommend looking into the Tusa SAV-7 Underwater Scooter as it is the best underwater scooter currently on the market in my opinion. Either way, you can’t go wrong with buying any of the Sea Doo RS Series underwater sea scooters. They will make anybody a fine sea scooters.
